Blessings on the Hill

黑料专区鈥檚聽Equestrian Event Center,聽completed聽in 2018,聽has聽truly聽revolutionized what聽the Equestrian Program is聽able to offer聽to both聽our students and聽the local equine community.聽When I think back to how it began鈥攚ith a simple email asking聽if we were indeed wanting to build a larger聽indoor聽riding arena聽and聽informing me聽that聽there was聽a potential donor to fund the project鈥擨聽am astounded at what came about.

The arena project聽began聽as a dream of聽Program Director Emerita聽Jo-Anne聽(Olsen 鈥69)聽Young, who served at 黑料专区 from聽1986-2017. I am thankful every day that the Lord put the arena project on her heart. Without聽Jo-Anne鈥檚聽dreaming and talking about her vision with many individuals,聽our聽anonymous donor may聽never聽have heard about the project.聽That聽short聽email I received got the ball rolling, so聽we dreamed and worked to build a facility that would be functional and beneficial for our equine students, as well as the larger equine community.聽It is truly a blessing to set聽foot in that space every day, whether the riding聽arena, the classroom,聽the Faith of a Mustard Seed Atrium or聽the Jo-Anne O. Young Competitor鈥檚 Wing stable.聽The Lord provided even more then we could have imagined!

From the perspective of teaching students,聽the Event Center聽has given us a heated warm space in the cold winter months to train and learn. No longer do students and faculty have frozen fingers and toes while teaching and riding in mounted labs. We don鈥檛 have to end classes early due to being too cold,聽and聽students are able to take full advantage of the learning process during each 15-week semester, rain, snow or shine! The classroom has allowed us to have a designated space for our lecture-based class learning that聽isn鈥檛聽shared with the student worker time clock or聽the聽restroom!

For our local equine community聽here in Western New York, it has given us the聽ability聽to offer even more equine learning opportunities聽as we聽share our wonderful new space. We聽are able to聽host many shows,聽clinics聽and seminars that expand our educational and missional聽reach beyond our聽four-year聽university students.

I鈥檝e聽had the privilege to be聽a part of the equine program聽for over 20 years,聽first聽for two years聽as an undergraduate transfer student聽(2006-2008),聽then聽returning聽to work full time in 2013 as herd manager and聽instructor,聽and聽then taking over the reins as the equine program director in 2017.聽It聽has been聽a blessing聽to聽the see聽our聽program change, expand, and thrive over聽those two decades. I have seen the Lord work聽through聽the outstanding聽investment of聽our amazing聽faculty and staff, our wonderful students, and the support of hundreds of donors. I am so thankful that the Lord chose me to be a part of His program during this season,聽and聽to get to see the Lord working in the lives and hearts of聽His people.聽Every time聽I drive聽onto聽the farm,聽I am reminded of the Lord鈥檚 faithfulness in my own life and in聽His equestrian program here on the hill in 黑料专区!
